See the best selling cars with government discount – 06/30/2023 – Market

More than 45,000 zero-kilometer cars sold this month benefited from the federal government’s measure that offers a discount for vehicles worth up to R$ 120,000, according to a survey carried out by consultancy firm Jato. The number corresponds to 41.5% of the registrations carried out from the beginning of June until last Monday (26).

Featured on the list, the Volkswagen Polo had about 5,200 units sold with the discounts and another 170 that were sold at the normal price.

Models like Fiat Strada and Hyundai HB20 also appear, with 4,960 and 3,523 units sold, respectively, through the discount program. See the full list of discounted cars here.

Among the vehicles that were not benefited by the provisional measure, some versions of the Volkswagen T-Cross, the Honda H-RV and the Hyundai Creta sold between 3,000 and 4,000 units each.

Until the closing of the research carried out by Jato, the assemblers had already sold around 109 thousand cars this month. The level is far below the total observed throughout the month of May, when the consultancy registered 165 thousand vehicles sold.

According to Milad Kalume, director of business development at Jato, the number of cars sold should not reach that observed in May until the end of this month. He claims that the most pessimistic scenario can be attributed to the difficulty in accessing credit.

“You make a down payment, with money or a vehicle, and what is left to finance is very high and the interest rate is applied, which is high. So the installments are also high. Therefore, the consumer ends up having a restriction on credit, depending on the profile”, he says.

Another factor that contributes to the low sales of vehicles is the stoppage of purchases by rental companies, which are waiting for the expansion of the government’s discount program for companies. Abla (Brazilian Association of Car Rental Companies) says that, for now, orders are in the backlog, but billings are blocked.

This week, the government announced that it will allocate another R$ 300 million to the incentive program for the sale of popular cars. Before, R$ 500 million were already available.
