Applications are open for the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications, which will reward the work of researchers, journalists and science communicators.
Divided into 24 categories, the award will receive works from around the world carried out in 2022 that point to problems, solutions and scientific advances in an accessible way for audiences unfamiliar with the topic.
There are three categories for journalists with prizes of US$40,000 (R$200,000). One of them will award journalists under 30 years of age who have been in the market for less than five years.
Two other categories will reward freelance journalists and professionals who cover science in the region.
Submissions must be in English. Applications can be made until May 5th, through this link.
The contest seeks to recognize excellence in scientific work and is organized by the philanthropic institution Schmidt Futures in partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, an entity of the US government that brings together the country’s sciences.
