Member of the AM says that the country cannot miss the opportunity to approve the Tax Reform as a way to reduce social and regional inequalities

Manaus (AM) – Member of the Working Group that analyzed the Tax Reform in the Chamber, Deputy Saullo Vianna (União-AM) defended that the moment is propitious to approve the matter, in order to simplify and make the country’s tax system fairer.

“We have just delivered the report, after five months of hard work discussing PEC 45 within the scope of the Tax Reform Working Group. Our first objective was, of course, the maintenance of the benefits of our Free Zone of Manaus and, still, the simplification of our chaotic tax system”,

Viana said.

Saullo Vianna also pointed out, among the expected results with the changes in tax collection and collection, the need to reduce the regressivity of our system, which means that the poorest commit more of their earnings to paying taxes than the most rich.

“We also seek, with the text we deliver, to do social justice since today, people with lower purchasing power pay the same taxes on consumption as a person with higher purchasing power”,

stated.

According to the deputy, our country has the worst tax system in the world due to its complexity of types of taxes and different laws. “The idea is to simplify and make tax payments more transparent. The fact that we have a chaotic system puts a brake on investments in our country and hinders the development of our economy”, explained Saullo Vianna.

Bench meeting – This Tuesday, the 4th, members of the Amazonas bench in Congress, Governor Wilson Lima, and technicians from the Treasury Secretariat held a meeting to align the political forces of the state with the aim of adopting a joint document in favor of maintaining the benefits of the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the PSD leadership in the Senate. “Our group in Congress, together with government technicians, under the command of the governor, is building a joint document that will guarantee our comparative advantages of the ZFM in the Tax Reform and maintain the state’s revenue”, informed Saullo Vianna, adding that the ideas will be taken to the meeting with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, scheduled for this Wednesday, 5.

“Among the proposals that we will bring are strong investments in sustainable production chains and the guarantee of the exceptionality of our economic model until 2073”, said Saullo.
