Santos closes an agreement with Globo to broadcast games as home team in Series B – 03/01/2024 – Sports

TV Globo announced this Friday (1) that it has reached an agreement with Santos to broadcast the team’s home games in Series B of the 2024 Brazilian Championship. The team’s 19 home matches will be shown on Premiere.

The agreement also provides for the showing of games on TV Globo itself and on Sportv.

Relegated for the first time in its history last year, Santos is not part of the collective agreement signed by the Brax agency with the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and the clubs that participated in Series B in 2023. Therefore, the club made use of of the Principal’s Law to negotiate whether or not to adhere to the Second Division contract.

This week, the continuity of Brax’s contract with the entity was placed in doubt. According to information from journalist Flavio Ricco, from R7, confirmed by Sheetthe agency informed the CBF that it would not be able to honor the contract signed last year and that it exceeds R$230 million in the values ​​agreed for 2024.

“It is a pleasure to celebrate another agreement with Santos, which reinforces our long partnership. Especially in this very important year for the club”, says Pedro Garcia, Globo’s Rights Director.

“This partnership between Santos and Globo is yet another demonstration of mutual trust and credibility. It is one of the largest communications companies in the world, joining a club of historic dimension. The broadcasts will certainly value our fans”, he added the president of the Baixada Santista team, Marcelo Teixeira.

Series B is scheduled to start on April 20th. The table should be released by the CBF in the coming days.
