One of the main amateur football competitions began last Saturday (28) in the community of Igarapé do Lago, 96 kilometers from the city center. The dispute is being organized by Santana City Hall after 15 years without being held.

In the opening round, the Anauerapucu team beat Piaçacá 2-0. In the second match, the home team, Igarapé do Lago, drew 0-0 with Pirativa. Ilha de Santana was in the ‘cabin’ in the initial round. The entire competition, with regulations and contest formula, was discussed by the tournament directors.

The tournament continues every weekend until December 2nd, the date of the grand final. Biraga Rocha, Extraordinary Municipal Secretary of Sport and Leisure, explains that the appreciation of sport in the districts recognizes the importance of the locations for the municipality of Santana.

“For a long time, residents of these locations have been asking for the return of the Santanense interdistrict. This year, as our priority, planning included the competition in the calendar and this Saturday the opening took place with a beautiful party at Igarapé do Lago”he stated.

One of the intentions of organizing the tournament, in addition to providing sport and leisure for residents, is to enable the generation of income for the localities.

“In addition to providing a football celebration, the interdistrict also allows the generation of income in the community. We had people selling mineral water, cake, snacks in general. In other words, we generate revenue and money that stays in the community. In this way, we strengthen the entrepreneurship of residents”, finished Biraga Rocha.
