Federal deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP) contacted the Ministry of Justice and asked the head of the department, Ricardo Lewandowski, to mobilize the Federal Police (PF) to investigate a threat directed at her for her support for the Palestinian people.

The parliamentarian reports that she received an email on Wednesday (21) that talks about exterminating those who live in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and says that Bomfim and other authorities have “their days numbered” for supporting them. Under the title “the enemies of Zionism must die and you are one of them”, the text suggests that “traitors prepare themselves”.

The detractor also says that supposed places “with a high concentration” of Muslims in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro should be avoided, “as we will soon create a new nakba.” The word, which means catastrophe or disaster in Arabic, refers to the forced diaspora of Palestinians in the late 1940s.

“Palestinians are to Israel just as blacks, Indians and northeasterners are to the south of Brazil: they are subhumans [sic]inferior race and insects that must be eliminated”, states the message.

“We will eradicate the presence of Palestinian, Muslim and Christian insects from Gaza and Judea and Samaria and we will make Greater Israel. No one will stop us”, he continues.

The text also praises the support for Israel given by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and by parliamentarians such as federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and says that the Prime Minister of Israel, Binyamin Netanyahu, should help to oust Lula (PT) from power.

In the letter sent to Lewandowski, Sâmia states that the message presents xenophobic and criminal content towards Palestinians and says that the threat is possibly linked to anonymous hate groups and forums on the dark web.

“As we know, many criminal groups organize themselves in a decentralized manner and use digital devices that make it difficult to track and originate messages, with the use of servers located in other countries being common to obstruct investigations conducted by Brazilian authorities”, says the psolista to the minister.

“Notwithstanding the provision of the due criminal report to the Federal Police, this [ofício] to request your attention to the taking of measures by this ministry with national bodies and authorities and those from other countries”, concludes the parliamentarian.
