Rony reveals inspiration from Luis Suárez to be the center forward

Recovering from surgery after suffering a broken arm in the final stretch of the Brasileirão, the striker Ron can miss the Palm trees in the first games of 2024. After losing space to Endrick and Breno Lopes, and receiving “suggestions” to look for a new home, the player doesn’t even think about moving and reveals inspiration in Luis Suarez to turn things around by being Abel Ferreira’s center forward.
Aware that Endrick will soon go to Real Madrid and that Breno Lopes is not yet unanimous, Rony hopes to turn the club around in 2024 as a “floating” number 9, repeating Suárez’s role at Grêmio.
“I’m very happy to have discovered a new position. I never imagined I could do the role I do today. If you ask me: what position do I like to play? I’m a goalkeeper, I like scoring goals and I don’t see myself in another position other than there, being false 9, the center forward”, said the player to SporTV
“I had never studied (the position). One day, when I arrived in the (concentration) room, I started researching the center forward position. And a player I studied a lot was Luis Suárez”, he revealed. “His positioning helped me a lot, because he’s not a very fixed center forward. He moves everywhere, he’s not very positioned in the area and that really helped me. I started seeing videos of center forwards who positioned themselves that way.”
There is nothing, however, about wanting to impose rules on the current commander of the alviverde, who has been reaping good results by reinventing players in other positions. Midfielder Zé Rafael became a midfielder and right-back Marcos Rocha stood out as a third defender, for example.
Aware of this, Rony makes himself available to help in the best way possible. “If you tell me to play in goal, I’ll play too. When someone is hungry, they’ll play in any position. I’ll even help if they’re supposed to be a ball boy”, he had fun. “But I personally consider myself as a center forward and no longer as a winger.”
