Rodrigo Guedes presents a project to make CMM more inclusive and accessible to PCDs

Upon formally handing over the project to the President of the municipal parliament, Guedes received confirmation from Caio André that the project will be carried out

Manaus (AM) – Continuing the work as re-elected President of the 23rd Commission for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COMPCD), councilor Rodrigo Guedes (Republicans) delivered this Wednesday (8) to the President of the CMM, Caio André (PSC) the project “ Chamber for All”, which seeks to adapt the City Council of Manaus (CMM) to receive people with disabilities, with full accessibility in the environments and services of the Legislative House.

The project developed by COMPCD points out changes in the general architectural, attitudinal, communicational, methodological (barriers in work methods and techniques), instrumental (barriers in instruments and work tools) and programmatic (invisible barriers embedded in policies and norms) of the Chamber Municipality and the fight against capacitism in the House.

According to the survey, the CMM needs to carry out changes and implementations in tactile signaling, such as tactile, sound and visual floors in an integrated way, adequate bathrooms, accessible routes, parking spaces for PwD’s, provision of an adapted room for assistance, among others, such as communication accessibility offering audio description services and braille translations.

Upon formally handing over the project to the President of the municipal parliament, Guedes received confirmation from Caio André that the project will be executed.

“We have the arduous mission of making our city more inclusive and I’m sure we’ll be able to implement all these needs and make Manaus City Council the most inclusive Chamber in Brazil. Unfortunately, Manaus is one of the worst cities in terms of accessibility, but together we need to reverse this reality. This project points out several points that need to be changed in the City Council so that every person with a disability can have their accessibility guaranteed when looking for this House”,
