Roberto Cidade presents PL to expand AM students’ access to scientific research

Bill No. 73/23 aims to increase public school students’ access to scientific research in the Amazon.

Manaus (AM) – The state deputy and president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), Roberto Cidade (União Brasil), presented the Bill (PL) nº 73/23, which aims to increase the access of public school students in Amazonas to scientific research.

“Scientific research is an instrument of great importance for the construction and dissemination of knowledge, it contributes to the promotion of technological activities and is a strategy for the economic and social development of the State. It is an area that requires investments and actions that strengthen and stimulate it. With the development of science, research and technology, our students tend to build a better future for themselves and for society”, she defended.

According to the project, basic education students from the state public education network will be encouraged to undertake scientific initiation through their role in the process of building and reconstructing knowledge in favor of the common good; promoting the teaching-learning process, with activities related to the scientific field; the expansion of study, research, science, innovation and the development of skills for learning.

The PL also encourages the pluralism of pedagogical ideas and conceptions; the promotion of humanistic, scientific and technological activities as strategies for the economic and social development of the State; the dissemination of research actions among students, stimulating debates and the production of new knowledge; strengthening the dissemination of science and appreciation of scientific culture and participation in creative processes for solving social problems and improving the quality of life and social well-being.

It also provides for the development, in partnership with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICT’s), of actions aimed at stimulating the interest of primary and secondary education students in scientific research.

“The participation of students in the group of activities will be optional and free of charge, but I am sure that everyone will be interested in participating. This demand arose from requests from students who see the importance of maintaining skills that reflect opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is within this perspective that the insertion of scientific teaching to students becomes another valuable instrument to improve qualities, knowledge and stimulate the beginning of the training of professionals focused on science and research, in addition to preparing them for higher education”, stated.
