Manaus (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), handed over, this Thursday (23), Djalma Batista Avenue, in the Chapa neighborhood, in the Center-South Zone of Manaus, with traffic fully released. The work will proceed to the stage of making the surface drainage, with the implementation of the curb, sidewalk and gutter.

During the handover, the head of the municipal executive assured that the following final stages will start on Thursday night. “We took advantage of the Carnival period, the holidays, to minimize the effects of the inconvenience that an intervention like this can cause in traffic and also for trade. We are quickly releasing the road, but the work is not finished, this asphalt that is here is the provisional one. Tonight, from 10 pm until 5 am, we will continue the resurfacing work. We are going to recompose the curb and the central construction site and we are going to be working, in the next few days, in the surroundings of the work, in order to leave it in the best possible way for the population of the city of Manaus”, stated Almeida.

The mayor also highlighted the speed of the work carried out by the city hall’s work teams, since the first estimate of completion was 20 days. Not even the most frequent and intense rains at this time of the year delayed the work.

“I want to highlight the great work done by the Infrastructure Department, of all our servers who worked 24 hours a day, streamlining our work, and bringing savings to the public coffers. We use our own servers and here we are working 24 hours a day, to restore total trafficability to Avenida Djalma Batista”, he added.

The road underwent emergency work to replace two deep drainage lines that have been in existence for more than 25 years, with two new and modern drainage lines measuring 30 meters each, with more than 150 Seminf employees working uninterruptedly and continuously. quickly, in 24-hour shifts.

To carry out the work, the teams had the support of 12 machines, including excavators, a patrol tractor and a roller, in addition to 45 buckets.

“The 20-day job is already a tight job, but the mayor, with his wit and dynamism, determined that efforts be spared to complete this job before the deadline and restore the safety and trafficability of this road, which is one of the main road corridors in our city”, said the Secretary of Works, Renato Junior.
