In her speech, the Women’s Attorney left a message of hope for a future without violence and discrimination against women

Manaus (AM) – Approximately 5 thousand consultations were carried out by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas from March to December. The balance was presented by state deputy Alessandra Campelo (Podemos) at the end of the House’s legislative year this Thursday (14).

In her speech, the Women’s Attorney left a message of hope for a future without violence and discrimination against women. To this end, the deputy and her team mobilized 50 girls, who went to the Ruy Araújo plenary session wearing the permanent campaign shirt “A woman’s place is wherever she wants”.

The Women’s Attorney’s Office is a body of the Legislative Power of Amazonas, established through Legislative Resolution No. 960, of December 14, 2022. It began operating on March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Since then, it has placed the Assembly as one of the main protagonists of the women’s protection network in the state.

“From that moment when the Prosecutor’s Office was installed, we changed the way this House handles and monitors cases of curtailment of women’s rights”, citing the body’s actions in cases of physical violence, rape, feminicide, abusive relationships, recognition of paternity, among others. “This year there were almost 5 thousand assistances, we had more than 3 thousand assistances through the Public Defender’s Office installed here within the Assembly alone, we had directly within the Prosecutor’s Office more than 1,500 assistances or referrals”,

highlighted deputy Alessandra Campelo.

When presenting the impressive numbers for 2023, the Women’s Attorney also praised the role of the president of the House, deputy Roberto Cidade (União Brasil), in strengthening the women’s protection network in Amazonas.

“I mainly want to thank this House for the support that President Roberto Cidade gave for the installation and operation of the Women’s Attorney’s Office. The Women’s Attorney’s Office revolutionized the women’s protection network here in Amazonas. This House is also a helping hand that women can count on. Today we are a strong arm of this network, working with the government, city halls, city councils and various institutions”,

said Alessandra Campelo.

To conclude the speech, the deputy highlighted the presence of children and girls present at the end of the legislative year in the Assembly. For Campelo, it is a time of hope for a future in which women can live free from oppression, threats, aggression, discrimination, harassment and harassment.

“The girls are here as a way for us to show our hope that we will have a new generation where machismo is fought and where women can live in a world without violence”,

concluded the deputy.
