The Federal Public Ministry of Paraná sent two investigations to the Attorney General’s Office into alleged irregularities committed by the former federal deputy and former head of the Lava Jato task force, Deltan Dallagnol.

The investigations were motivated by representation made by the legal group Prerogativas.

One of the items that will be the subject of investigation by the PGR is the attempt to create a foundation managed by Lava Jato to manage R$2.5 billion collected in leniency and plea bargain agreements.

The investigation into alleged irregularities in the payment of daily fares for Lava Jato prosecutors will also be sent to the agency.

The justification given by prosecutor Jorge Klanovicz on December 6 is that both cases not only involve Deltan, but also other prosecutors.

Two other individual accusations will be investigated by the MPF-PR, as Deltan no longer has jurisdictional prerogative.

They are alleged misuse of the status of member of the Federal Public Ministry to sell lectures to private entities and companies and alleged irregular receipt of housing assistance.

Member of Prerogativas, lawyer Fernando Hideo Lacerda says that “the criminal investigation into Deltan Dallagnol’s misdeeds is an important step towards cleaning up the history of abuses committed during Operation Lava Jato.”

“We trust that the new Attorney General of the Republic will promote the due investigation of the facts and the consequent accountability of those who, under the false pretext of combating corruption, violated the democratic system for the benefit of projects of power and personal enrichment”, he stated.
