Provão Paulista is a new serial entrance exam announced by the state government in July, aimed specifically at students enrolled in the public education network. Five educational institutions in São Paulo joined the selection process, totaling around 15 thousand vacancies that will be competed for by candidates. As it is a serial test, students take the entrance exam every year throughout high school. This means that a student who is in their first year in 2023 will also need to take the test in 2024 and 2025. Only then will their final grade, based on their performance in the three editions, be calculated to compete for a place in the undergraduate course. Those in the second year will need to take the Provão in 2023 and 2024. Those in the third year of high school will only have the grades from this edition as a basis for calculation in the competition. According to the government of São Paulo, around 1.2 million students signed up to take the Provão. Of these, 1,700 study in other states.
