Rapporteur for human rights will visit Brazil – 05/28/2023 – Panel

Argentine lawyer Soledad García Muñoz, special rapporteur on Economic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Rights of the IACHR (Inter-American Commission on Human Rights), will come to Brazil in June to monitor the situation of human rights and the environment in Brazil.
Between the 11th and 17th of June, she will visit São Paulo, Brasília, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, in a coordinated visit with the Brazilian government. The spin must result in the production of a report with recommendations.
The visit was organized after an invitation made by 18 civil society organizations. Muñoz should address issues such as the situation of app drivers, domestic workers and street populations, as well as issues related to freedom of expression, blacks, the LGBTQI+ community and the environment.
The arrival of the rapporteur comes amid attempts by Congress to promote a dismantling of various environmental policies.
