This Monday (15), in Brasilia, senator Randolf Rodrigues (Rede) he was with the deputy mayor of the municipality of Mazagão, José Hosana, at the Portuguese Embassy, with Luís Faro Ramos, and at the Moroccan Embassy, with Nabil Adghoghi, to deliver the official invitations of the Feast of São Tiago and to talks in search of investments in the region.
After the conversation, the ambassador of Morocco in Brazil guaranteed the sponsorship of the Moroccan company OCP for the event in 2023 and also proposed that Mazagão become a kind of sister city of El Jadida, with the aim of deepening economic and cultural relations.
Senator Randolfe thanked the Embassies for their receptiveness and support for the traditional Amapá festival. “This is a moment when the Mazagan tradition wins the world”, celebrated the parliamentarian.
The Portuguese embassy was also interested in the city’s history and wants to invest in research in the region.
Feast of St. James
The festival of São Tiago completes 246 years this year, it is one of the most traditional in the state. Considered is one of the greatest expressions of popular culture. It takes place in July, with religious rituals, cavalhada and open-air theater that tells the story of São Tiago.
