The leader of the government in Congress, Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), is one of the advocates of carrying out studies on the coast of Amapá to assess the possibility of extracting oil at the mouth of the Amazon River.

According to Randolfe, the point where Petrobras wants to drill a well is 580 km away from the Brazilian coast, and not in the Amazon. “There is no environmental threat. The same environmental risk that exists in this place exists in the exploration of the coast of Rio de Janeiro, there is on the coast of Sergipe or on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte”, he argues.
