Randolfe defends oil exploration off the coast of Amapá and commits to making connections – News of Brazil

Senator from Amapá and leader of the Government in the National Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede) was one of the first parliamentarians to defend Oil as an economic way out for the development of Amapá and said he would take the needs of the State to President Lula to seek more speed in the process .
In early 2023, it published an article in defense of the agenda, after obtaining the license to develop the “pre-operational assessment” of the oil and gas exploration project on the coast of Amapá.
The movement created great expectations for the start of oil activities, which could significantly stimulate economic activities in the state, particularly in the municipality of Oiapoque.
Since 2011, Randolfe raises the agenda of the need to diversify the state’s economy, with the possibilities generated by oil exploration. There were several agendas with Petrobras, in addition to seminars in Amapá and meetings with political leaders in Brazil.
More recently, in partnership with the Government of Amapá and SESI-SENAI, an important seminar was held that dealt with the subject, with emphasis on the generation of energy from green hydrogen.
Petroleum
The so-called “Equatorial Margin”, which includes the block located on the coast of Amapá and which extends to the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, is the big bet to maintain the safety of oil production in Brazil, with reserves estimated at 30 billion barrels. It is important to highlight that the premise is to adopt oil and gas extraction technology with the minimum emission of greenhouse gases.
“We are making every effort to prioritize the purchase of goods and services from local companies; so that the selection of personnel favors the Amapá workforce; to take advantage of the moment and improve the infrastructure of the neighboring municipalities, in addition to sponsoring social responsibility actions, such as assistance, inclusion and reduction of vulnerabilities”, explained the senator.
Randolf also highlights the need to take advantage of oil opportunities. “Our Amapá is rich and full of possibilities for sustainable exploration. We have great expectations with regard to oil exploration,” explained the senator.
Petrobras is already preparing to drill the first well 160 km off the coast of Amapá. “The objective is to produce oil and gas with environmental safety. This represents a lot for our state and for the economy of Amapá!”, completed Randolf.
The expectation is that when the wells at the mouth of the Amazon come into operation, they will generate employment alternatives, income and taxes (especially royalties from oil activity), internalizing the benefits and promoting the development of the state economy.
