The mayor, Arthur Lira (AL), consolidated this Wednesday (12) a “superbloco” with 173 deputies. The block, which will be the largest in the House, will be formed by PP, União Brasil, PDT, PSB, Solidariedade, Avante, Patriota and the Citizenship-PSDB federation.
“The block is a demonstration of commitment and responsibility towards the country. Let’s add, not compare. Act together in the construction of policies in favor of society. Respecting opinions and diversity. This is the best way to assess important projects for the country”, said the president of the Chamber at the twitter.
The new bloc surpasses the alliance composed of Republicans, PSD, MDB, Podemos and PSC, which has 142 parliamentarians. The leader of União Brasil in the Chamber, Elmar Nascimento (BA), stated that the “superbloco” does not want “any kind of stir” with the government.
“There is no interest in creating, especially with the government, any kind of stir, we deputies who are here represented by their leaders, will have here a forum for discussion and decisions always thinking about the interests of the Brazilian population”, said Nascimento.
Deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), who is part of the base of the Lula government, will be the first to lead the group, reported the newspaper O Globo. “We decided that this collegiate will make decisions that will be coordinated by a rotation of leaders to be initiated by experienced leaders, committed to this House, and who are more in tune with the government”, said Nascimento.
“Together, we demonstrate that ideological differences are less important than Brazil’s greater interests. I have always defended party strengthening as a fundamental mechanism in the consolidation of our democracy”, said Lira.
