Public Prosecutor’s Office: TCU vetoes additional work for strenuous work – 05/31/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The TCU (Union Court of Auditors) decided this Wednesday (31) that the payment of the additional tax for painful activities for analysts and technicians of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPU) is illegal.

The vote, which took place in the plenary of the court of accounts, was unanimous.

The measure provided for a 20% increase in the remuneration of civil servants working in border areas, in the states of Acre, Amapá, Roraima and Rondônia and in places in the Legal Amazon and the northeastern semi-arid region with less than 315,000 inhabitants.

Also known as “additional hardship”, the right covers workers who perform strenuous activities that can generate physical or mental exhaustion. He was incorporated into the careers of the Public Ministry in 2011 by the then Attorney General of the Republic, Roberto Monteiro Gurgel Santos.

The granting of the benefit was contested by the Attorney General’s Office (AGU), which classified the measure as “absolutely unreasonable”. “The granting of this benefit to MPU servers […] generates numerous lawsuits by other federal public servants, causing serious risks to public finances”, said the agency, in a representation sent to the TCU.

The request for suspension made by the AGU had already been accepted outright by the court of accounts – this Wednesday, the merits of the issue were analyzed.

In the column, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) states that the body suspended the payment of the benefit in 2020, in compliance with the first TCU decision.
