PT will seek symbolic return of Dilma’s mandate – 08/27/2023 – Panel

Federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann, president of the PT, says that the party will articulate a draft resolution in Congress for the symbolic return of the presidential mandate of Dilma Rousseff (PT), the target of impeachment in 2016.

On Tuesday (23), the TRF-1 (Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region) maintained, by 3 votes to 0, the decision of the first instance that filed an action of impropriety against Dilma in the case of tax pedaling, which was the basis of the process of impeachment.

“I understand that a draft resolution in this sense is in order based on the TRF-1 decision, which makes it clear that the impeachment was a great farce, that the pedaling story was a set-up, literally a coup. Dilma and the history of Brazil deserve it”, says Gleisi to the Panel.

The PT president refers to the symbolic devolution of the mandate of João Goulart, deposed by the military coup of 1964.

In 2013, based on a project by Pedro Simon (MDB) and Randolfe Rodrigues (without party-AP), Congress annulled the session of April 2, 1964, in which the then president of Congress, Auro de Moura Andrade, declared vacancy the Presidency of the Republic.

On the occasion, the then president of Congress, senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL), apologized “for the untruths sponsored by the Brazilian State” against a “patriot”.

This Saturday (26), during an interview in Luanda, capital of Angola, President Lula (PT) said that a discussion is needed on how to repair Dilma, who is currently president of the Brics bank.

“Now I’m going to discuss how we’re going to do it, it’s not possible to repair political rights if she wants to be president again, because I want to end my term. But you need to know how to repair something that was judged for something that didn’t happen “, said Lulu.
