Budget

Party joined the PL in voting on the budget, in December 2023, to approve the “fundão” of R$4.9 billion

The PT should begin analyzes for the distribution of the electoral fund in March.

Sources from the party that are involved in the elections say that the expectation is that the largest amounts will be allocated to capitals and cities with more than 100 thousand inhabitants. The definition should be published by April.

Members of the PT’s top leadership await the completion of a survey carried out by the Electoral Working Group (GTE), an internal team of the party, on possibilities of candidacies and alliances — mainly in cities with 100 thousand inhabitants — and the definitions of candidates in the main capitals.

The electoral fund to finance municipal elections will have a value of R$4.9 billion, more than double the amount available for the 2020 election. The PT will have the second largest value of the fund, behind only the PL. Both parties came together in voting on the budget, in December 2023, to support the “billionaire fund”.

In addition to internal discussions, the party is still waiting for the party’s 44th anniversary festivities to focus on the distribution of resources.

If, in 2020, the PT’s option was to have as many candidates as possible, now the priority is to defeat Bolsonarism with the so-called “broad front”, prioritizing alliances in places where names outside the party have a chance of winning.

This is the case of São Paulo. The PT chose to re-affiliate Marta Suplicy on Friday (2). She will be the runner-up on the pre-candidate for mayor of São Paulo Guilherme Boulos (PSOL).

The analyzes for forming the tickets still involve the Brazilian Federation of Hope, formed by PT, PCdoB and PV. Created in 2022 for the presidential election, this is the first municipal election with federated parties.

The federation will create municipal commissions to discuss alliances in the October elections. On Thursday (1st), the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Luciana Santos (PCdoB), assumed the presidency of the federation.
