PT makes jokes and affronts republican rule – 02/01/2024 – Marcos Augusto Gonçalves

The actions of PT members on government accounts, posting jokes to provoke Bolsonaro opponents on the occasion of the Abin scandal, were deplorable. The athletes from the PT team, formed, among others, by veterans such as ministers Rui Costa, Paulo Pimenta and Alexandre Padilha, with the invaluable collaboration of Gleisi Hoffmann, started the year playing as juniors and losing the political etiquette Cup.

The PT barely disguises that it remains driven by a sectarian and revanchist spirit, in open contradiction with Lula’s end-of-year speech, wrapped in a Christmas spirit of tolerance and conciliation – a piece already relegated to the garden of hypocrisy, including due to recent attitudes, pro -polarization, from the president himself.

If PT accounts on social media were used to poke opponents, the demonstrations would even be acceptable, although mistaken for fanning divisions and sowing friction. Publication in government accounts already escapes the most primary notion of republican behavior.

The arrogance of the PT apparatchiks is proportional to their political precariousness. Lula himself has already sent messages to the party, reminding him that leaders and activists are isolating themselves in doctrinal alleys and turning their backs on the real life of Brazilian society.

Last December, during the group’s electoral convention with a view to 2024, Luiz Inácio said: “We have to ask ourselves why a party that, often in its speech, thinks it has all the truth on the planet, only managed to elect 70 deputies? Why What’s so little if we’re so good? We need to try to find an answer within ourselves.”

He took advantage of the stage to criticize the constant “fights” and the difficulties of PTism in dialoguing with evangelical sectors and the world of entrepreneurs. In 2015, a time of accusations and corruption lawsuits affecting PT members, Lula had already said that the party was old and only thought about positions. He preached an internal revolution and the rise of new people.

The diagnosis is there, made by the CEO of the acronym. With rare exceptions, such as Boulos, who is from PSOL, and Haddad, seen by the party as an enemy, who would be left to think about a higher electoral flight? What would become of this leading group if Lula were no longer active?

The president also, it must be said, although an unusual politician, has amazing outbursts. Perhaps encouraged by the urgency of time and age, he sometimes seems to want to promote a kind of idiosyncratic reckoning with what he considers historical errors and injustices.

The most recent voluntarism was the attempt, let’s face it, pathetic, to place former Finance Minister Guido Mantega in the presidency of Vale. The denials, after the pressure proved futile, reached the point of ridicule.

As for Abin’s debacle, in this rocky episode, it is clear that Bolsonaro instrumentalized the agency for political purposes and personal interests, as other evidence already suggested. The function deviation is glaring. It is necessary for the government, Judiciary and Legislature to frame the body within constitutional limits. If the underground of arapongagem is problematic anywhere, in Brazil it has always been focused on internal disputes, often for the benefit of political groups in power.

It is a good occasion to discuss, after all, what type of intelligence service would be good for the country and what controls can actually be exercised.
