The PT meets its bench next Wednesday (21) to discuss, among other things, whether to enter the dispute for command of the Social Security, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, responsible last year for for voting on controversial projects, such as the one that prohibits same-sex marriage.

The collegiate is commanded by deputy Fernando Rodolfo (PL-PE). The first meeting of the commission, with no date yet set, will see the election of a new president.

Last year, the commission had a majority of conservative deputies, who managed to vote on projects such as the one that prohibits the possibility of civil marriage between people of the same sex in Brazil.

In 2011, the STF (Supreme Federal Court) validated legal unions between people of the same sex. It also approved a proposal that prohibits civil registration of polyaffective families.

The collegiate also tried, unsuccessfully, to analyze other texts, such as the one that changes the Civil Code to stipulate that the civil personality of the human being begins from conception, and not from birth, and that of a supposed “gay cure”.
