The National Federation of Federal Criminal Police Officers (Fenasppen) denied, in a statement released this Saturday (17), any interference or “external support” in the escape of two inmates from the Mossoró Federal Penitentiary, in Rio Grande do Norte.
“The fugitives had no external support, that is, there was no external logistics, they did not have an escape vehicle, cell phones, a shelter or escape route, which leads us to believe that there was no prior planning but rather an opportunity that was used and they were successful”, says the document.
According to the entity, which brings together five unions in the category, the federal system’s prison units, considered maximum security, remain “safe”. And he reinforced that ‘if the participation of police officers during the escape’ of the inmates, Deibson Nascimento and Rogério Mendonça, is proven, it will be necessary to “cut one’s own flesh without any corporatism”.
“Once the investigations are complete, if there is a federal criminal police officer involved, we will cut our own meat without any corporatism, as our greatest pride has always been the statistical numbers of zero escapes, zero rebellions, zero cell phones”, says the federation.
The note was published after the criminal police received a series of accusations about corruption in the corporation. This Friday (16), federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) suggested that there was help from someone inside the unit to facilitate the exit of the inmates.
In addition to defending the continuity of investigations, the federation highlighted that since the Federal Penitentiary System began operating, it has never recorded security or operational problems. “Federal penitentiaries remain safe and fulfilling their due role, the isolation of criminal leaders within the Federal Penitentiary System”, he reinforced in the note.
Two prisoners from the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró, in Rio Grande do Norte, escaped from the maximum security unit last Wednesday (14). Preliminary information indicates that they are linked to Comando Vermelho and were previously detained in Rio Branco, in Acre. This is the first escape from a maximum security federal penitentiary since the system was created in 2006.
