State deputy and former governor of Mato Grosso do Sul Zeca do PT criticized the invasion of a productive property in the state by indigenous people, saying that those responsible for the action were “poured” on the spot, in the city of Rio Brilhante. He referred to the indigenous people as “these people”.

“Two buses with approximately 80 indigenous [foram] spilled there. Now they have locked the gate, occupied the farm’s 400-hectare headquarters, prohibiting Raul [dono da área] and his family to take from there approximately 7,000 bags of soybeans that were harvested”, he said, in a speech from the tribune of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday (9).

According to the parliamentarian, there are no anthropological studies that prove that the farm is an indigenous area. “These people, for no reason, occupy and invade productive properties, creating legal uncertainty and running the risk of consequences that we have no idea what could happen,” he said.

The PT has been under pressure since the beginning of the year due to invasions sponsored by social movements in productive areas, as occurred in properties belonging to the company Suzano in the south of Bahia.

Former governor between 1999 and 2006, Zeca is a deputy in a state with a large force of ruralists, and which gave victory to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in last year’s election.

He said in the speech that he was in Brasília last week and that he spoke with Lula himself, who would not agree with the invasion of productive lands.
