Prosecutor of the ‘cracks’ says Revenue will respond after having its data accessed under Bolsonaro – 02/27/2023 – Power

Former Rio de Janeiro Attorney General Eduardo Gussem told the Sheet that it does not intend to comment on unmotivated access to its tax data in 2019, the year in which it coordinated investigations into the case of “cracks”, and that a response to this should be the investigation of the Revenue into the case.

Gussem, who retired in 2021, said that in this new phase of his career he chose not to comment on cases in which he acted in the Public Ministry.

“My data at the Revenue and elsewhere are sound and speak for themselves. The internal investigation [na Receita] should give a better answer”, Gussem just said.

A Sheet revealed this Monday (27) that Ricardo Feitosa, head of intelligence at the Federal Revenue at the beginning of the Jair Bolsonaro administration, accessed and copied confidential tax data from Gussem and two politicians who had broken with the presidential family, businessman Paulo Marinho and ex-minister Gustavo Bebianno.

There was no formal investigation at the IRS that would justify this action. Feitosa denies having leaked confidential data.

Marinho told the column by journalist Mônica Bergamo, from the Sheetwhich was “invaded by the ‘state machine’ in the government of Jair Bolsonaro.

“It is a brazen use of the state machine against the citizen, which leaves us in a situation of fragility in the face of public authority,” said Marinho, who actively participated in Bolsonaro’s campaign, but who broke with the then president early in his term.

Bebianno was the first minister dismissed from the Bolsonaro government in February 2019, when he became the center of a crisis installed in the Planalto Palace after the Sheet revealed the existence of a scheme of orange PSL candidacies to divert public electoral funds.

Since his resignation, he has become a critical voice against Bolsonaro and his children’s interference. He died in March 2020, a victim of a heart attack, according to the family.
