Prosecutor investigating PCC says Lula offends him by talking about “framing”

Prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya, who has been investigating the First Command of the Capital (PCC) for more than 20 years, said that the statement by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who called the Federal Police operation to dismantle a plan to kill him and kidnap Senator Sergio Moro (União-SP), is an offense against him and the Public Ministry.

“To say that the police invented this operation is offending me and the Public Ministry. This operation began with the Public Ministry of São Paulo. On January 30, we took the information to Moro and his wife. I promised that in three months we would identify these people and make the arrests. Then I praise the work of the Federal Police. Moro is a critic of the Minister of Justice and an opponent of the president, but the PF is republican. In just 45 days, she completed her work”, said Gakiya in an interview with the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo.

The investigation that resulted in Operation Sequaz, which arrested 9 PCC members who planned the attack on Gakiya and Moro, began in early February. A former member of the faction approached the MP from São Paulo to ask for protection, as he was under a death sentence.

He then said that the same PCC chief who would kill him, Janeferson Aparecido Mariano Gomes, also known as Nefo, NF and Dodge, wanted to kidnap Moro and his family. The objective was to use them as a bargaining chip to rescue the maximum leader of the faction, Marcos Willians Herbas Camacho, Marcola, from prison in the federal penitentiary in Brasília.

The investigation showed all the preparation of the faction members, with millionaire expenses, including the purchase of vehicles, property rental, travel and monitoring of the Moro family since September last year, during the election campaign.

In the interview with Estadão, Gakiya also criticized PT members who used the PF operation to praise Lula, and Moro himself, for attributing to himself the transfer of PCC leaders to federal prisons, in 2019, one of the reasons for being targeted.

“I cannot understand, whatever the president, be it Bolsonaro or Lula, sometimes use ‘my’ police. The police belong to the state. It makes me very uncomfortable when trying to use the police for political ends. Rulers will pass and institutions will remain. I am only critical when these politicians use the removal of CCP leaders. That removal ended my life and that of my family. I took the burden and the politicians took the bonus”, said the prosecutor.
