In its last session of the year, the Chamber’s Constitution and Justice Committee approved a project that considers June party gangs to be Brazil’s intangible cultural heritage.
The project, by congressman Ruy Carneiro (Podemos-PB), was finalized and now goes directly to the Senate.
“The square dance competitions liven up the entire month of June and July in the Northeast and generate employment and income, through the costumes, dancers and others who, indirectly, benefit from this cultural event”, says the parliamentarian in the justification. He also points out that in Brazil only Carnival is more popular.
