Mayor delivers six more new ‘Morar Melhor’ homes on Christmas Eve

Manaus (AM) – Continuing the actions of the ‘Morar Melhor’ program, the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, delivered this Sunday morning, Christmas Eve, another six new homes covered by the program in the East zone of the capital of Amazonas. The action, coordinated by the Municipal Department of Housing and Land Affairs (Semhaf), initially includes families in the neighborhoods of Colônia Antônio Aleixo, Puraquequara and São José.

“There are six houses delivered today, within this program called ‘Living Better’, from the City Hall, which changes, which transforms these houses, bringing dignity to these families, and now, providing a dignified Christmas for them. So, it is a joy and happiness to be able to have this program in our city, which transforms people’s reality”,

assured Almeida.

In the Puraquequara neighborhood, two residences underwent complete renovation of the structures, which included changing the flooring, doors and windows, renovating the bathroom and other improvements. One of the homes delivered was that of housewife Ana Angélica, who is now living a new reality. She, who lives with eight other people, says that the feeling is one of gratitude. In addition to the complete renovation, the housewife also received property registration, making the place official as her own home.

“For me, it’s much better than before, because before it rained and everything got wet. We weren’t even able to sleep properly, and now we’re not going to be able to sleep peacefully. It’s a dream come true, now I also have the documents for the house, the land, and thank God, we received this help at the right time”,

thanked the housewife.

“Only those who had a history of difficulty, of struggle, like our mayor, would remember humble people like these. Doing a project that brings hope to our people, that brings hope of a better life, is a source of great joy for us too. There will be more than 4 thousand units, which, God willing, next year, under the guidance of the mayor, we will build”,

More Houses

Still in the East zone, the head of the municipal Executive handed over the house of retiree Maria Rosa Ribeiro, who has lived in the São José 3 neighborhood for over 30 years, completely renovated. For her, having her new home for Christmas is a source of joy.

“It’s wonderful, my house is ready and that makes it a very happy Christmas for us. Today, we will move in with new furniture to complete our happiness. The feeling is one of gratitude,”

said the retiree.

In the Colônia Antônio Aleixo neighborhood, three new homes were handed over to families by the mayor of Manaus. One of the beneficiaries was housewife Maria Rita dos Santos, who together with her family lived in a precarious situation. The recipient highlighted that having her house restructured for the end of year festivities was her greatest gift.

“I’m very happy, I’m really happy to have received my house, I’ve never received a Christmas present, but today I received my house from my mayor. This is the realization of a dream of over 40 years”,

said Maria.
