Profiles favorable to the revision of the Master Plan of São Paulo dominated the public debate on social networks, according to a survey carried out by the School of Communication, Media and Information (ECMI) of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation.

The study analyzed 11,000 posts on the subject on Twitter between June 1st and 28th, in addition to 1,588 posts from Facebook profiles and 322 from Instagram.

The report shows that 33% of the profiles that commented on the topic were in favor of the revision, against 26% against it.

The first group is formed mainly by center-right politicians, who orbit allies of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) and the mayor of the capital, Ricardo Nunes (MDB). The second has Federal Deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) as its main reference, who should run for City Hall of São Paulo in 2024.

Likewise, the pro-revision of the Master Plan group accounted for 32.6% of the interactions in the surveyed period, against 30.6% of the antagonistic ones.

In addition to profiles linked to Nunes and Boulos, likely rivals in next year’s election, there were also demonstrations by other actors. Specialists in urbanism in general took the opposite position, while councilors linked to the group that dominates the City Council defended the change in the law.
