Federal deputy Professor Goreth (PDT-AP) gives a direct and quick reason why illiteracy has not yet been eradicated in the country and, therefore, in Amapá: “Illiteracy continues in the country because the government does not set it as a goal” .
The parliamentarian, who was once state secretary of education, gave her opinion on the night of this Friday, 16th, in the program ‘Ponto de Encontro’ (Diário 90.9), when she spoke about several subjects, among them, illiteracy. In Brazil, around 11 million people cannot read or write.
“I believe that we were unable to eradicate illiteracy because we did not set it as a goal, because the federal government does not play its part. In Amapá, in 2019, we created the Alfabetizada Child program. To my grateful joy and that of Minister Waldez, who was my governor, five years later the federal government launched the Alfabetizada Child program, the same name as the program in Amapá”, registered the deputy.
Professor Goreth defends a concept and knowledge in the fight against illiteracy, and that this can only be acquired with a strong and structuring State program. She thinks that now, with the national program Criança Alfabetizada, the federal government will strengthen the states, which will strengthen the municipalities, because the money has to reach the schools in the municipalities, truly where education begins.
The deputy thinks that the lack of adequate literacy is the cause of 40% of high school students dropping out. She sees that if literacy does not occur at the right age, the student will not be able to face the school ahead, and that this becomes a life problem, a silent tragedy.
