The national president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), criticized this Tuesday (12) president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for not having gone to Rio Grande do Sul, after the tragedy caused by the passage of a cyclone extratropical. After the September 7th ceremony, Lula embarked for India, where he participated in the 18th G20 Summit.

“If the president had gone to RS to follow the pain of people who lost their family members and everything they had, perhaps the investments to avoid future tragedies and Lula’s sensitivity would appear in practice. In theory, Lula 3 is supportive. In practice, unfortunately not”, pointed out the parliamentarian in the social media.

Nogueira stated that the PT government’s “contempt towards victims of natural disasters is not limited to the South region”. On Sunday (9), interim president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) announced the transfer of R$741 million to affected cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The natural disaster has already left 47 people dead and another 46 people are still missing.

For the senator, the amount allocated by the government to combat and prevent natural disasters is not enough. “The PT government’s contempt for victims of natural disasters is not limited to the South region. It extends to the entire country. Of all the resources that were announced with all the fanfare for the new PAC, less than 1% of the money will be used to prevent new disasters,” he said.
