The president of the port of Santos, Anderson Pomini, says that the GLO (Law and Order Guarantee) operation started this week, with the presence of Navy ships, will have positive impacts on cargo movement at the location.
“It will reinforce the image in the market that the port offers security, in addition to good logistics”, he says.
According to Pomini, there will be an increase in companies that will feel comfortable working in the port, although there is currently no estimate of what this growth will be.
The president of the port authority also states that he spoke with admirals responsible for the GLO and obtained the guarantee that there will be no harm to container operations. The percentage of goods inspected, says Pomini, will not change.
“We have brought together all the institutions present at the port, such as Revenue, Antaq and the Federal Highway Police, and there will be no changes to the operational routine,” he stated.
He also defends that the GLO operation lasts longer than the expected period of six months.
“The decree provides for the possibility of renewal. I think that is the trend. It is an operation that deserves to be renewed”, he declares.
