See how each senator voted in approving tax reform

The Federal Senate approved this Wednesday (8) the tax reform, in two rounds, with 53 votes in favor of the proposal and 24 against. Now, the proposed amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 45/2019 will return to the Chamber of Deputies for a new analysis, as it has undergone changes in the Senate’s processing.

Supported by the government, the PEC’s main premise is the creation of a Value Added Tax (VAT) system, a model already adopted in 174 countries. The Brazilian particularity will be due to the tax rate, which should be the highest in the world, around 27.5%, according to an estimate by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad. Among analysts, the projection reaches up to 33.5%.
