In the month of July, as part of the Macapá Summer 2023 program, the biggest of all times, a competition will be unprecedented: the “Strongman”, a brute force championship that will bring together the strongest men in the Amazon. This Tuesday (20), the City Hall began organizing this sporting event, coordinated by the Municipal Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Semel). So that everything is done within national standards, Marcos Ferrari, an authority on the sport, arrived in town today and will help with the organization.
Ferrari is one of the strongest men in the country. He has been practicing strongman (strength athletics) for over 18 years. The man is a pioneer of the sport in Brazil.
Accompanied by Charlles Sampaio, Semel’s chief of staff, Ferrari was in the morning at the city hall building, where he spoke with Mayor Dr. Furlan, who reinforced the importance of the pioneering competition in Amapá.
“For the first time we are going to promote Strongman within Macapá Verão and having this international career athlete in strength competitions to add his expertise is fundamental for our event. It will be the biggest Macapá Summer ever!”, reaffirmed Dr. Furlan.
The Strongman, a brute force championship, will take place on the 7th and 8th of July on the Jandiá waterfront, located in the Perpétuo Socorro neighborhood.
Still this Tuesday, in the afternoon, together with the Semel team, the site where the competition will take place was inspected. Ferrari will not participate in the trials, but his role is important in the development due to his vast experience in the segment.
“I am very excited to participate in this pioneering event in Amapá. Strongman is a brute force modality that has gained more and more prominence in Brazil. I am sure it will be a highly successful competition where we will find the strongest man in the Amazon”, says Ferrari.
“We brought this internationally renowned competition. So we made this connection between the sport and the population and had the participation of these athletes and also people new to the sport to encourage the population to leave their comfort zone and practice an unprecedented sport here in the state”, says the chief of staff. da Semel, Charles Sampaio.
The championship will bring together the strongest men in the Amazon. There are 10 athletes from Amapá who compete for the title. Strongman also counts on the participation of Tiago Aparecido, an athlete with long experience in strength competitions.
In addition to this modality, which for the first time makes up the grid of the biggest summer event of all time, the sports program for Macapá Summer 2023 will be intense and varied, with over 30 sports modalities.
Locals from Amapa and visitors will be able to participate in street races with a course of 5 km, enjoy the Hand Beach, watch the Macapá Fight Boxing Championship and have fun with Queimadão Beach, Beach Tennis, Beach Boxe and Beach Westiling. The program takes place from July 1 to 30.
