Posts deceive by confusing government strategy cited by journalists with alleged orders to TV stations – 05/09/2023 – Politics

Comments by journalists from CNN Brasil and GloboNews on the postponement of the ministerial reform by the government of President Lula (PT) show the existence of a political strategy by the Palácio do Planalto, whose intention was to keep the focus of the news on the investigations against the former -president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the case of jewelry, and do not reflect a conspiracy between the government and these journalistic companies, as suggested by posts on social networks. Publications verified by Projeto Comprova use clipped and out-of-context excerpts from the news to suggest that the federal government has the power to define what stations can broadcast.

What the journalists cited in the posts with misinformation reported was a political strategy by the Lula government of not pronouncing or announcing the ministerial reforms due to the repercussions on the case of the jewels received by the former president, an opponent defeated by Lula at the polls. In both cases, the reporters make it clear in their speeches that this is a political movement by members of the government so as not to divide the focus of the news and keep it on the unfolding of the investigations against Bolsonaro.

On GloboNews’ Jornal das Dez program, reporter Guilherme Balza states in several excerpts that the “speech” is from the Planalto Palace, in reference to the current administration. In the case of CNN, on the Bastidor 360 program, reporter Raquel Landim claims that the postponement of ministerial reforms is part of the Lula government’s strategy to not weaken coverage of the jewelry case.

Since April of this year, the Federal Police have been investigating Bolsonaro, former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro and former aide, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, as well as Admiral and former Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque, the opposite – Admiral José Roberto Bueno Júnior, Reserve Colonel Marcelo Costa Câmara, First Lieutenant Jairo Moreira da Silva, Lieutenant Marcos André Soeiro and Second Lieutenants Osmar Crivelatti and Cleiton Henrique Holzschuk, for allegedly “misusing gifts of high value received due to the position held by the former President of the Republic and/or by delegations of the Brazilian government, who were acting on his behalf, on international trips, delivered by foreign authorities, to later be sold abroad”.

The conclusion is contained in the decision of the Minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Alexandre de Moraes to authorize the operation within the case. While the investigation continues with new developments, Lula has been postponing changing ministries, which should happen soon, to accommodate the Progressistas (PP) and the Republicans.
