The Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (Ficco) in Acre arrested, this Friday morning (23), the brother of one of the fugitives from the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró (RN). According to the Ministry of Justice, the man had already been convicted of robbery and participation in a criminal organization and had an open arrest warrant.

Ficco did not reveal any further details about the person arrested in this Friday’s operation in Acre. “Since there are several security forces involved in the searches, with the exchange of information, it was possible to locate the prisoner this morning. He is the brother of one of the fugitives”, said the ministry, in a statement.

On the 14th, Rogério da Silva Mendonça and Deibson Cabral Nascimento, linked to Comando Vermelho, escaped from the maximum security prison. Around 600 security forces agents are working to recapture the two.

During the searches this Thursday (23), the Federal Police arrested three suspected of helping inmates who escaped from the penitentiary. Security forces also carried out nine search and seizure warrants in the cities of Mossoró (RN), Quixeré (CE) and Aquiraz (CE).

The police increased the search perimeter and are now looking for the fugitives on the border between Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará. Ficco is made up of members of the Federal Police and Federal Highway Police, in addition to the Civil Police and Military Police of Acre.
