This Friday (9), Novo em Folha will publish weekly the podcast Americas, a news and analysis program on political and social events in the region, carried out by journalists Sylvia Colombo, columnist for Sheetand Sebastián Fest, correspondent in Buenos Aires for the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo”.
The Americas podcast, broadcast in Spanish, is a good opportunity for journalists and others interested in better understanding the region and learning more about the language spoken in almost all of Latin America, with Brazil as one of the exceptions.
In the episode published this Friday (9), the two journalists analyze how the political turn in Spain, with the call for new elections, could impact Latin America and, especially, the possibilities of advancing negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union.
The consequences of the Colombian “House of Cards” are also analyzed, with a plot of intrigue, illegal wiretapping and even an alleged spy nanny, in the Petro government. In power for a little less than a year, Colombia’s first leftist president is already facing deep wear, with the gradual dilution of the government alliance, the loss of majority in Congress, the accusation of having received money from drug trafficking in his campaign and a greater difficulty in continuing to advance the social reforms that were the heart of his platform.
Finally, journalists comment on the “Darth Vader trial” held in Chile, an unusual idea to explain law to students and citizens.
The Americas podcast will bring, every week, three topics for debate; in general with material from its own investigation and interviews with protagonists of the news, such as presidents, candidates, chancellors and analysts.
The graphic part of the project was created by the Thema studio.
