Mourão criticizes Lula’s “ideological and outdated policy”

In an analysis of relations between Brazil and Venezuela, senator and former vice-president General Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS) criticized the “ideological” policy of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

According to the senator elected by Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil needs to stop making foreign policy based on the president’s ideological interests. Like Lula’s insistence on trying to get closer to Venezuela’s dictatorial government.

“We have to make agreements that are of mutual benefit to the countries and not be prohibited in ideological matters. Governments change, but the States remain. That is what is missing”, said Mourão to People’s Gazette. The parliamentarian was a military attaché at the Brazilian Embassy in Venezuela for two years.

The former vice president of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) criticized the statements that Lula made about Venezuela during the visit of the dictator Nicolás Maduro to Brazil. “Unfortunately, President Lula has a vision of the 20th century, while we are in the third decade of the 21st”, concluded Mourão.
