Report shows warnings from the National Land Transport Agency

Brasilia DF) – The Military Police (PM) ignored alerts about the arrival of 132 buses in the Federal District on the eve of the criminal acts of January 8 and did not increase its staff to contain possible invasions, reveal documents delivered to the CPMI.

A report produced by the general commander’s office shows that the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) began sending warnings to the PM of the DF on the afternoon of Friday, January 6, about caravans of demonstrators.

At 3:25 pm on Friday, the first notice from ANTT arrives that 23 buses with 797 demonstrators were on their way to Brasília.

On the same day, at 5:50 pm, update for 43 buses and 1,622 passengers.

On Saturday, it was evident that the number of people was growing. At noon, a new alert: 105 buses and 3,951 demonstrators heading to the capital.

At 9:46 am on the Sunday of January 8, ANTT reported that 133 buses and 5,021 passengers were disembarking in Brasília.

The PM, however, maintained the same staff planned at a meeting on Friday morning, when representatives of Congress and the federal government were present and the expectation of adherence to the acts was low. The PM-DF has not yet responded on the matter.

To the CPMI, the Military Police reported that it did not call in all its personnel because the official process on the possible occurrence of demonstrations in Brasília arrived “after the end of the day”.

The head of operations at the PM says that “until the end of the day on 01/06/23 (Friday), at 1:00 p.m., there was no official information from the Department of Operations or the Secretariat of Public Security about the occurrence of demonstrations for the day. 08/01/23”.

It also states that the administrative process was only officially sent to the “1st CPR at 5:52 pm on 03/06/2023 (out of hours) and, in the period from 01/06/23 to 01/08/23, the administration of the 1st CPR was not triggered for any measures to be taken”.

The PM also reinforces that “operations of great importance and complexity (…) involve the activation of all operational and administrative sectors of the Military Police of the Federal District” and that “the document was not received by the administration of the 1st CPR (Regional Police Command ) officially, not even through the Whatsapp group used for urgent information between the operational sections of the Regional Policing Commands”.
