Income must reach the value of a minimum wage for beneficiary families
Manaus (AM) – Bill 2956/22 provides for the expansion of the extraordinary benefit of the Auxílio Brasil for indigenous families participating in the Auxílio Brasil program and will equate the benefit to what is necessary to reach the amount of one minimum wage. the PL was authored by congressman Carlos Henrique Gaguim (União-TO).
The proposal, currently being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, amends Law 14,342/22, which instituted the extraordinary benefit, an amount that complements the Auxílio Brasil so that all citizens participating in the program receive at least R$ 400 per month.
This year, the Executive Power edited Provisional Measure (MP) 1155/23, which transfers an additional R$200 to families enrolled in the Auxílio Brasil, ensuring the payment of a total of R$600 to the beneficiary.
For Deputy Gaguim, the amount should be higher for indigenous families. According to him, it is a form of compensation for the damage caused by the Brazilian State to indigenous people, which has increased in recent years.
“The damage can be easily verified by the clear scrapping process that Funai went through, an entity that should be protected and equipped to face the enormous challenges necessary for the protection of indigenous peoples”, he said.
Procedure
The project will be conclusively analyzed by the Human and Minority Rights commissions; of Social Security and Family; Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
