Davi reinforces incentives for agriculture with BRL 4.5 million for cassava cultivation – News of Brazil

At the launch, this Friday, 20th, in Macapá, of the ‘Manioc Cultivation Modernization Program in the State of Amapá’, promoted by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in partnership with the Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), the re-elected senator and leader of União Brasil in the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, highlighted the importance of encouraging research on agribusiness and said that initiatives like this are essential to transform the state’s productive chain.
In 2022, the program received, through the work of the senator, R$ 4.5 million to be invested. “Our objective is to innovate in technological solutions to increase the productivity of cassava, with investment in the production of cuttings, seeds and training of manioc stems, with special attention to our family producers”, explained the senator.
Encouraging research on technological advances for the countryside, this is not the first time that Alcolumbre has invested in research to strengthen Brazilian agribusiness. In 2022, the leader of União Brasil made more than BRL 20 million available for research, development and technological innovation projects in favor of strengthening sustainable agricultural actions through the increase of solar photovoltaic plants integrated with consumer units in the areas of laboratory research , of production, creation and cultivation throughout Brazil. “It is gratifying to be able to participate in the socioeconomic and sustainable investment process that aims to improve the production processes of both the small rural producer and the processing industries and factories”he pointed out.
Regarding the installation of solar plants around the country, data from Embrapa predict, in 2023, more than 20 of its units served with 18 solar plants, thus totaling 29 units of this type of plant in Brazil, with a solar park capable of generate almost 28 kWh/year and savings of R$ 8.1 million per year. Among the states to be contemplated with a solar plant this year is the Embrapa unit in Amapá. The project also received support from Senator Davi: almost R$ 1 million was allocated to the work. Furthermore, recalls the senator, Amapá will house Embrapa’s first lake power plant.
“We will have, in the state, a set of plants divided into two parts: lake and land, the first of which has the same characteristics as conventional plants, but will be installed in a floating structure in one of the three cultivation tanks of Campo Experimental da Fazendinha, which involves research on the reproduction of Amazonian fish and shrimp”, explained the Union leader. “This plant will generate energy for activities in the field itself and will serve as a technological showcase for local producers. Embrapa Amapá alone already calculates a cost reduction of R$ 132 thousand per year”, said.
In addition to Alcolumbre, the governor of Amapá Clécio Luís and other regional political leaders participated in the launching of the “Program for the Modernization of Cassava Cultivation in the State of Amapá”.

The president of the Deliberative Council of Sebrae-AP, Josiel Alcolumbre, highlighted this Saturday morning, on the radio, the initiative of the general head of the local Embrapa, Antonio Claudio Almeida de Carvalho, to present the Cassava Cultivation Modernization Program, which gave rise to Senator Davi’s decision to allocate to the company a quarter of the approximately 20 million reais he obtained in amendments to the national Embrapa.
“So, Senator Davi is like this: he works for Brazil, including Amapá in his decisions. We are in a new moment in the state, that is why I defend that all society, institutions and public bodies unite to walk together wielding our only flag, which is Amapá”, vibrated Josiel.
