Federal deputy André Fernandes (PL-CE) said this Friday (24) that he obtained the necessary signatures to set up a mixed parliamentary commission of inquiry (CPMI) to investigate the acts of vandalism on January 8. “We have just reached the minimum number of signatures, in the House and Senate, for the creation of the CPMI on January 8th. There were 32 in the Senate and 172 in the Chamber so far,” said Fernandes, author of the petition, at the twitter.

Signatures of 171 deputies and 27 senators are required to open a CPMI. “We are not going to let them use the joint parliamentary inquiry commission to play politics,” said the deputy in a video posted on social media. “There are probably still a lot of criminals on the loose, but without a doubt there are a lot of innocent people in jail,” he added.

Deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) celebrated the signatures to install the collegiate. “Victory! We got the necessary signatures for the establishment of the CPMI on the 08/01th! And, as it is a Joint Committee, it will be established automatically. Congratulations, Brazilian people! This victory is yours. There will be a lot of bearded people who won’t sleep today”, said Zambelli in the twitter.

Fernandes also argued that the installation of the collegiate body will be automatic. “Art. 21 of the Common Regulation of the CN: once requested by 1/3 of the houses, the establishment is automatic!”, he posted. The request needs to be read in plenary by the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), for the commission to be created.
