Piracaia hosts festival dedicated to the Czech Republic – 03/21/2024 – Tourism

The city of Piracaia, located approximately 90 km from São Paulo, hosts the first edition of the Tchéquia Week festival in March. The event, dedicated to the Czech Republic, runs until Sunday (24) and features photographic exhibitions, musical performances and typical food from the country.
In the city of São Paulo, gastronomic establishments and cafes offer dishes inspired by Czech cuisine, such as a burger with smažený sýr, a type of breaded and fried cheese, and potatoes (R$55), and goulash accompanied by knedlíky, a dough made from flour, (R$ 90). To try the beer produced in the pilsner style, a famous Czech recipe used by the Pilsner Urquell brand, you need to pay R$28.
On Saturday (23), the program includes the “Euro Gypsy Duo” show, with music from Eastern Europe, at Casa Viva Piracaia, at 9pm. On Sunday (24), there is a Czech bread workshop with natural fermentation, at 4pm, with guidance from baker Marcelo Papi. The Tchéquia Week festival honors the heritage and culture of the Czech Republic in the region, in addition to the legacy of Jan Antonín Baťa, a Czech businessman and shoe manufacturer in the interior of São Paulo in the 20th century, who had an influence on the development of towns, airport and schools. There are also lectures about the life of immigrants, living in Brazil, and photographic exhibitions.
