The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) defended this Tuesday (11) at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) the assessment of the state of health of former federal deputy Roberto Jefferson. The opinion was sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes to support a request by Jefferson’s defense for the revocation of the prison.

Jefferson is imprisoned at the Bangu Penitentiary Complex, in Rio de Janeiro, but had to be transferred to a hospital after a fall in his cell.

In the document, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo, asks that the former deputy be evaluated by an official medical board. According to lawyers, Roberto Jefferson needs proper medical treatment outside prison. According to supporters, he has already lost about 16 kg, informed Agência Brasil.

Jefferson has been in prison since October last year for offering armed resistance to the execution of the arrest warrant issued by Moraes. The warrant was issued after Jefferson published a video on the internet in which he offended minister Cármen Lúcia.

At the time, the former congressman fired rifle shots and threw grenades at the police officers who went to the scene. Due to the episode, he was indicted by the Federal Police for four attempted murders and became a defendant.
