Senate CCJ approves nominees for the National Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office – News of Brazil

Approved by the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Federal Senate, after the sabbatine, the appointment of the prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Amapá (MP-AP), Ivana Cei, to occupy a vacancy on the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP). The audience was attended by the attorney general of justice of Amapá, Paulo Celso Ramos, and by prosecutors Judith Teles and Joel Chagas, in addition to MPs and state authorities.
The president of the CCJ, Senator Davi Alcolumbre, led the work to analyze the nominations, seven of which were to occupy vacancies in the CNMP, two were nominated for the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and one was nominated for the position of General Public Defender of the Union. All nominees were approved, with only one “No” vote recorded for the DPU.
Senators Davi Alcolumbre and Lucas Barreto, the latter being the rapporteur for the evaluation of the MP-AP attorney’s curriculum, highlighted the fact that Ivana Cei was the only woman among the ten nominees, was from Amapá and highlighted her role in her career at the Ministry Public, having reached the post of president of the National Council of Attorneys General of the Public Ministry of the States and the Union (CNPG).
“This is a unique moment in the history of Amapá, in which we have a daughter of the state nominated to compose the National Council of the Public Ministry and with this composition, she will be the only woman to represent Brazilian women and with great pride, a competent woman who will honor the MP of Amapá and Brazil. Congratulations Dr. Ivana, I am sure, as is your rapporteur, Senator Lucas Barreto, of your excellence’s technical, professional and human qualities. We are convinced that, starting today, we will have a great woman, a great Brazilian and from the Amazon representing the Public Ministry in the National Council”, congratulated Davi Alcolumbre.
The Amapá attorney said that her goal is to contribute to the CNMP to strengthen and improve the Public Ministry institution, whose mission is to serve the public. “For those who know me, they know that conflict resolution is the topic of any management, dialogue is necessary and this is present throughout my administration throughout my work at the MP-AP, and we will continue in this way in National Council”, expressed Ivana Cei, thanking the members of the MP present, family members, friends and senators for the trust deposited by the vote.
Present at the meeting, in the Federal Senate, were the president of the CNPG and PGJ of Pará, César Mattar Jr.; the PGJ of the Military MP (MPM), Antônio Duarte; the PGJ from Bahia, Norma Cavalcanti; the president of the National Association of Members of the Public Ministry (Conamp), Manoel Murrieta; the president and counselor of the Amapá Court of Auditors (TCE/AP), Michel JK and Paulo Martins, respectively; Federal deputies: Acácio Favacho, Vinicius Gurgel and Augusto Pupio; and the Secretary of State for the Government of Amapá, Rodolfo Vale; in addition to authorities of the Brazilian judiciary.
The names of those nominated and approved by the CCJ will be forwarded for consideration by the Plenary, requiring the votes of an absolute majority of senators to be approved and, subsequently, for appointment by the President of the Republic for a two-year term, with the possibility of reappointment. Afterwards, they take office before the president of the CNMP.
