A report prepared by the National Institute of Criminalistics of the Federal Police (PF) concluded that the miniature horse presented by the government of Saudi Arabia to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro is equivalent to R$ 24,855, 62 and is composed mostly of copper.

To arrive at the value, the experts submitted the piece to “physical, chemical and mineralogical analyses” — and even to an X-ray and a CT scan. The procedures were carried out on the 15th of this month.

“The images were analyzed in all anatomical planes (coronal, axial and sagittal), together with the processing of three-dimensional reconstructions of the body of the sculpture, 3 (three) members and base, in order to subsidize the analysis of the questioned material”, details the report, obtained by the column.

The “examinations” pointed out that the sculpture is made “of solid material and without hollow parts” and constituted of different precious metals. Despite the golden appearance, the gold is less present.

“Within the scope of the body surface of the horse sculpture, more specifically in the golden metallic portions, a majority composition of copper (89.02 to 94.18%), silver (3.44 to 6.27% ) and gold (1.39 to 3.90%)”, says the document.

Federal Police experts also point out that the horse bears an inscription with greetings in the name of “His Royal Highness, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy”.

“The characteristics of the sculpture with motifs, elements and details that refer to the culture of the country of reference on the plaque, which also include a dedication phrase and identification of the name, position of authority and country, are compatible with a foreign piece of good quality customized and identified for concession purposes in a courtesy protocol act”, says the document.

The horse was severely damaged, as three of its four legs were severed – the fourth, which was left, also shows “signs of damage”, according to the National Institute of Criminalistics.

“The material has subsequent damage, indicative of incorrect handling and which includes its own packaging. This damage impairs its aesthetics and prevents its use for exhibitions, ornamentation and/or for collection composition, requiring repairs”, say the experts.

According to the PF, the piece is from the Goldline brand, which usually manufactures its products in Italy. A similar horse, but with smaller dimensions, was located by experts on a company website.

The report highlights, however, that the estimated value of around R$ 24,000 does not cover market prices or purposes “other than the expert’s scope”.

“The estimative character stems from the absence of forwarding a document proving the price effectively practiced in the acquisition of the respective piece for ratification of the value”, explain the experts.

“For all the above, the estimated merceological value of the questioned item, when intact and preserved, corresponds to USD 4,971.12 (four thousand, nine hundred and seventy-one US dollars and twelve cents) or R$ 24,855.62 (twenty and four thousand, eight hundred and fifty-five reais and sixty-two cents)”, they conclude.
