PF marks Marcos do Val’s statement to explain alleged coup plot

Brasilia DF) – Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) must testify to the Federal Police (PF) next Wednesday (19). The parliamentarian will have to explain the alleged coup plot denounced by him in February on his social networks, involving the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes and former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the plot.

On June 15, the PF carried out an operation at addresses linked to Do Val and at the Federal Senate. The operation was authorized by Minister Moraes, who also determined that the senator should testify.

During the operation, computers, pen drives and cell phones were seized.

The investigation was opened by order of Moraes in February, after the minister stated that Do Val had presented divergent versions of the facts in interviews and in a previous statement to the PF.

In February of this year, Marcos do Val accused former president Jair Bolsonaro and former deputy Daniel Silveira of organizing a meeting, at the end of last year, to propose the senator’s involvement in a coup d’état plan.

The senator said, at the time, that the proposal was to record his conversation with the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who would be instigated by him to admit that he was extrapolating constitutional limits.

With such a recording in hand, according to Do Val, allies of the former president would request the arrest of Moraes and the annulment of the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

He denied, after the PF operation, that he had told more than one version of the case. The senator’s accounts on social networks were blocked by determination of the STF.

Among the crimes in which he can be framed, according to the investigations, is that of disclosing confidential information that could cause harm to other people.
