PF asks Moraes to hear Valdemar Costa Neto about the draft

The Federal Police (PF) asked this Tuesday (31) authorization from the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, to take the statement of the President of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, on the draft that suggested decreeing a state of defense in the Superior Electoral Court. (TSE).

At the beginning of the month, the PF found the document at the residence of former Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District Anderson Torres. Among other measures, the draft decree provided for declaring imprisonment for a crime against the State, in addition to suspending the rights of members of the Electoral Court.

In recent interviews, Costa Neto claimed to have received and discarded proposals with the same content as the one found at Torres’ house. The request is signed by delegate Raphael Soares Astini, reported the newspaper O Globo. In the document, the PF quotes the politician’s statements in these interviews.

“In a recent interview with journalistic vehicles, Mr. Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the PL political party, said that he even received several proposals, documents that supposedly could question/change the electoral result in the TSE and that he was careful to shred such documents “, wrote the delegate.

“I never commented, but I received several proposals, which came by mail, which I received at a political event. There were people who put (the paper) in my pocket, saying that it was like taking Lula out of government. Lawyers sent me how to do it using the article 142, but all outside the law. I was careful to shred it”, said Costa Neto to the newspaper O Globo.

The PF’s request was filed in the inquiry that investigates the alleged omission of DF authorities due to acts of vandalism on January 8. This Monday (30), the President of the STF, Minister Rosa Weber, asked the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to comment on a request for an investigation against the President of the PL for the statements.
