PF arrests advisor to Bolsonarist deputy of the PL – 01/19/2023 – Politics

Carlos Victor de Carvalho is a parliamentary advisor to the Bolsonarist state deputy of RJ Filippe Poubel (PL). He is the last of the three arrested by the Federal Police on suspicion of financing the coup acts in Brasília on the 8th.

CVC, as it is known, is the leader of the group “Direita Campos”, in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the north of Rio de Janeiro. Until then considered a fugitive, he was found this Thursday (19) at an inn in Guaçuí (ES).

On Monday (16), Poubel released a statement saying that “he has always repudiated illegal acts and shown respect for democratic values”.

“The parliamentarian’s office will seek information on the facts published in the press, so that there are no advance convictions without due administrative and legal process.” said the Bolsonarist deputy after CVC became a fugitive.

Carvalho’s net salary as a parliamentary advisor is R$5,588. On social media, CVC criticized vandalism in Brasilia.

“For eight years I have been organizing acts in favor of the right and I have never destroyed public or private property, as I completely repudiate these acts of vandalism. What happened in Brasília must be condemned by everyone who wants a free and democratic Brazil. !”, said Carlos Victor de Carvalho, in a publication on the 9th. The report was unable to contact him.

In December, CVC called extremists Bolsonaro supporters who set fire to buses in an act in the streets of Brasilia as “infiltrators”.

With the arrest, the PF finalizes the three arrest warrants it received in the so-called Operation Ulysses. Previously, sub-lieutenant Roberto Henrique de Souza Júnior and confectioner Elizângela Cunha Pimentel Braga had already been arrested.

Called Ulysses, the action investigates: 1) Local leaders who blocked the highways that pass through Campos dos Goytacazes; 2) Who organized the demonstrations in front of the Army barracks in the city; 3) And whether those investigated participated in the organization and financing of the coup acts that led to the invasion of the buildings of the three Powers in Brasília on January 8th.

Those investigated may be accused of criminal association, violent abolition of the democratic rule of law and incitement of the Armed Forces against institutional powers.
